What's So Bad About Caucusing FL & MI? [w/ poll]

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 11:41:07 AM PDT

As we all know, Florida and Michigan are a mess.

Let's assuming either a re-vote or a caucus will occur.  Some kind of do-over is needed.

Follow me for why a caucus would be more fair.

Debate Thoughts and Discussion

Wed Feb 27, 2008 at 09:28:32 AM PDT

This is probably a little shallow for an entire diary, but I can't help it since I haven't seen any diaries on some of the points in the debate last night.

Let me say, if Hillary wins the primary, I will vote for her in the general election.  No problem there.

But last night, Obama proved once again why he is a better choice for our next president.

Discussion on the other side.

American Leadership Project

Thu Feb 21, 2008 at 10:26:45 AM PDT

Obama supporters need to be informed about Hillary Clinton's "527" group the American Leadership Project (ALP).

The ALP is trying to raise $10 million for the races in Ohio and Texas.

Politico.com has more here.

I'm getting really tired of the mis-information

Wed Feb 20, 2008 at 01:28:44 PM PDT

Accoding to the Associated Press:

BAGHDAD - The U.S. military said Wednesday that two women used as suicide bombers in attacks earlier this month had undergone psychiatric treatment but there is no indication they had Down syndrome as Iraqi and U.S. officials initially had claimed.

Exit Polling--Don't Believe the Hype!

Thu Feb 07, 2008 at 08:35:04 AM PDT

For the love of God, I'm sick of the media, pundits, and Associated Press telling us what to believe.

From this article, you'd get the impression that men overwhelmingly vote for Barack Obama, while Hillary Clinton gets most of the women and Latino vote.

This is not true!  Follow me for why.

Note: I used to think all exit polling was the same. But thanks to MissLaura, I've seen the light that exit polling in the US is much different from exit polling in other countries, where they are looking for voter fraud.

Burger King Boycott--Update

Fri Dec 28, 2007 at 10:33:17 AM PDT

Hi eaters,

Burger King is still insisting it can't afford to pay tomato pickers a penny more per pound.  A new public relations campaign by BK alledges that workers make $12.46 an hour.  But Angel Aguilar, a 36-year-old picker from Mexico, says: "It’s a gigantic lie to say we earn $12.46 an hour.  If they were to ask all of us, who earns $12.46 an hour, nobody would raise their hands."

The Coalition of Immokalee Workers--a community-based worker organization--also reports new allegations of abuse of workers, including being locked in trucks, chained and beaten by bosses for trying to escape.  The King is ever trying to fine others that want to give the raise.

More on the other side.

This System Tears Us Apart -- A Plea for Instant Runoff Voting.

Fri Nov 23, 2007 at 02:53:33 PM PDT

I want to apologize.

My last diary was titled, "When did Hillary lose you?" and it was a chance for me, and some others, to sound off about our mutual frustrations with the current leading candidate of the Democratic Party. That diary was not very optimistic. It wasn't meant to be mean--I like Hillary well enough as a person--but I find her tough to swollow as a politian. Nonetheless, the diary did little to forward a progessive agenda.

And there's been many more diaries that have done roughly the same thing.

At what point did Hillary lose you?

Sat Nov 17, 2007 at 10:30:50 AM PDT

Let me start by saying that I am a man, and I would love to see a female president.  I would go as far as to say that women would probably make better leaders and they certainly deserve a shot at it, after being shunned for thousands of years.

But Hillary Clinton, I cannot support.

Mike Gravel is my hero.

Tue Oct 02, 2007 at 09:39:56 AM PDT

Have you been watching the debates, wondering who this old guy from Alaska is that keeps telling us we can cure the world?  At first, I thought he was just too nuts to even be considered a real candidate.  But as time goes on, I've come to see him (as well as Dennis Kucinich) as one of the only honest candidates out there.

Let Them Eat Filibuster

Wed Jul 18, 2007 at 07:28:15 AM PDT

Finally it's starting to look like Republicans will have to really put up or shut up about filibustering the Senate.  Since November, Republicans have been threatening filibuster on just about everything the Democrats want to pass.  So let them.

Turkey Ready to Invade Iraq?

Mon Jul 09, 2007 at 10:22:58 AM PDT

Apologies if this has already been diaried.

According to the Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Turkey has 140,000 troops near the border of Iraq.  Could they be ready to take on the Kurds?  Maybe not, but what if someone random provokes a conflict with Turkey?  Then Turkey would have the excuse to invade in the name of National Security (you know, the Bush Doctrine).  This brings to mind the conflict between Lebanon and Isreal last year.

Can Your House Afford $516,348?

Wed May 30, 2007 at 08:13:18 AM PDT

While facing so many immediate (Iraq War) and scary (global warming) problems, we sometimes might forget how truly broke we're getting.  We're not just broke, we're in debt to the tune of over 1/2 a million dollars per "household".

Alright Folks, Explain Yourselves!

Asking them why is a reasonable request.
