GOP VP -- Place Yer Bets

Wed Aug 27, 2008 at 11:08:42 PM PDT

We're all decided. There's no suspense as to who the Democratic nominees for President and Vice President will be. Tonight proved we've got winners. Tonight proved WE ARE UNITED!!!!!!! Let's face it. We would have ALL been happy with whoever Obama chose. I've never thought much of Hillary Clinton, for instance. But after seeing her and Bill the last two nights at the DNC, I would have been thrilled had Obama chose her.

Gore? Dodd? Schweitzer? Richardson? Thrilled!

I'm thrilled he chose Biden!

For choices, Democrats had nothing but winners. I refuse to heap praise on Obama for his VP choice because it was easy. His dartboard was mostly bullseye. Piece of cake. Target-rich environment.

But the Republicans?

Make it Hurt.

Sat Aug 23, 2008 at 11:09:51 PM PDT

I live in a very red state (Wyoming), but anyone who has access to radio, television or the internet has been subjected to the same thing I have for the last 8 years. Republican Superiority. Permanent Majority. Whacko Libs. All that and more.

We've been told that even if we're right, too bad, because there's not a goddam thing we can do about it. We've been told we're so politically inept that we can't win elections. So what if the election was stolen -- what are you going to do about it? Nothing! You can't. WE... The Republicans... control everything! Bwaaa Haaaa Haaaa!

We've had fat guys with Fred Flintstone haircuts acting as if they're superior beings. Well it's time for a little shock treatment. A little taste of their own medicine.

In Support of Manned Space-Flight

Sun Aug 03, 2008 at 11:41:11 PM PDT

Obama has indicated he might look at NASA, and NASA's manned program. This isn't fair. Kennedy said we go to the Moon, we went to the damn Moon. Kennedy wasn't around, but we knew he wanted us to go to the Moon after he was shot, so we did. George W. Bush wants us to go back to the Moon and then to Mars. And he'll even be around to appreciate it! He'll say, "See? We did it! I knew we could!" Here's the rule: President says we go somewhere, we gotta go there. He's the President!

But there's a lot of people who say we don't need the manned space program any more. Stupid people. Question: how will we get people into space without the manned spaceflight program?

Why Does The Air Force Hate America?

Mon Apr 21, 2008 at 07:38:34 AM PDT

BREAKING NEWS: Defense chief Gates says Air Force is not doing enough to help the Iraq war effort

WASHINGTON - Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Monday the Air Force is not doing enough to help in the Iraq and Afghanistan war effort, complaining that some military leaders are "stuck in old ways of doing business."

Gates complained in a speech at the Air University on Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., that getting the Air Force to send more surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft to Iraq and Afghanistan has been "like pulling teeth."

Stuck in the old ways of doing business? He must mean like back when we were a respected world power and didn't fuck up everything we touched.

It's us Honorary African Americans too!

Fri Mar 21, 2008 at 03:40:36 PM PDT

I rust read my buddy, The Great Bob Johnson's diary about the media not wanting to admit that Obama has won. From The Politico

Unless Clinton is able to at least win the primary popular vote — which also would take nothing less than an electoral miracle — and use that achievement to pressure superdelegates, she has only one scenario for victory. An African-American opponent and his backers would be told that, even though he won the contest with voters, the prize is going to someone else.

There was even some racist asshat on FOXNews who said the African Americans would riot! I got news for ya, there, racist asshat; they ain't the only ones!

Since Hillary has assured everyone that us Wyoming Goat Ropers are all African Americans, I need to include, as an Honorary or Temporary African American, that I too will raise a fuss in Denver if Obama has this stolen from him by Superdelegates.

Obama won my county by 74% and Wyoming by 61%. Now, 61% was the exact same percentage Obama won Mississippi by, according to Hillary, because of that state's huge African American population. So, allus here in the Cowboy State, the Equality State, figure we is African American too, at least for a little while, and that's fine by us. We kinda like that, ummmm Bro. Homee.

Hey Dave Freudenthal!

Mon Mar 10, 2008 at 02:29:02 AM PDT

Just who the hell do you think you are? In the 2006 election, it took you forever to endorse Gary Trauner. He lost to Barbara Cuban by less than a half a percent. Where the fuck were YOU? Even when you did endorse him it was luke warm and we felt like you're heart wasn't in it.

Now, you're embarrassing us again. And not just because you look amazingly like Peter Griffin on Family Guy.

Now, you're saying you "don't like" either of our Democratic presidential candidates.

Meanwhile, the state's top Democrat, Gov. Dave Freudenthal, has said he doesn't like any of the candidates, Republican or Democratic.

Obama Will Review Bush's Executive Orders

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 07:47:40 PM PDT

News From Wyoming! w00t!

Casper Star Tribune: Obama says he will review all of Bush's executive orders

Barack Obama told a cheering crowd at a town hall meeting in Casper on Friday that he would restore respect for law in the White House by reviewing every executive order issued by President Bush and discarding any deemed unconstitutional.

Wyoming: Eraser

Wed Mar 05, 2008 at 10:46:17 AM PDT

Just a short note, as we WyObama folks have suddenly become very busy. It looks like Hillary will gain less than 12 delegates from yesterday. If she does, I promise you this:

Wyoming will completely erase any delegate gains Hillary made on March 4th. We will do so this coming Saturday, March 8th.

The Great State of Wyoming, least populous in these United States, thanks the great Obama supporters of RI, VT, OH and TX for their hard work. You put us within striking distance. You made us matter. We WILL NOT let you down.

Civility

Fri Feb 22, 2008 at 01:10:23 PM PDT

Stop telling me to be civil about this primary election. If I cuss, if I call you and asshole or something, then yeah. That's my bad. That's a valid complaint. I promise I won't do that. But all you Hillary people, enough with the acting insulted all the time. We're for Obama.

O B A M A

Right now we're in a primary contest with your candidate, Hillary.

H I L L A R Y

Obama has been winning a lot more primaries than Hillary lately. As a matter of fact, I can barely remember the last time you guys won a primary. I think it's like eleven primaries or caucuses in a row you've lost. Really! That many!

See? You think I'm being rude. That's what this diary is about. Winning primaries... is not rude. We're not going to apologize for that and we're not going to try to lose one or two, just so you'll like us more. You support our opponent. We LIKE beating Hillary in primaries. We think that's the funnest thing evar. It's not cruel. It's fun.

Hillary and Professional Wrestling

Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 10:41:55 PM PDT

Oh Sweet Jesus Inna Thong is everybody upset about THIS!

But Clinton will not concede the race to Obama if he wins a greater number of pledged delegates by the end of the primary season, and will count on the 796 elected officials and party bigwigs to put her over the top, if necessary, said Clinton's communications director, Howard Wolfson.

"I want to be clear about the fact that neither campaign is in a position to win this nomination without the support of the votes of the superdelegates,'' Wolfson told reporters in a conference call.

Can you feel it mounting? The anger! The dread? The boos? Think of the villains of professional wrestling!

It's The Money -- And It's Over

Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 12:34:01 AM PDT

For Hillary, money gets A LOT harder to come by after tonight. After next Tuesday, she'll have almost nothing coming in.

Look at it this way, it costs Superdelegates nothing to delay their decision to support Obama. Doesn't cost them a dime. But campaign donors? That's money, folks. Money requires a MUCH higher burden of proof than support -- proof that it's not just money going down a hole. Support is vapor. Air. Money is an investment. Money... is fucking money!

And even before tonight, even with Hillary's much touted $10 million in four days or whatever it was, Hillary was bring in the dollars at 1/3rd the rate Obama was. Yes, that's since Super Tuesday.

So if it was 1/3rd of Obama's intake before tonight's crushing losses, what will it be now? 1/4? 1/5th? Less?

None of the TV commentators talked money tonight and what this does to her. Her donors know it though, and so does she. More than anything else, tonight was the money tipping point and that will bring this to a close a lot quicker than lagging support.

Like soon.

Hillary, McCain and the 100 Years War

Sat Jan 19, 2008 at 10:11:54 PM PDT

I'm not going to vote, in the general election, for Hillary Clinton. The only chance Democrats have of taking the Rocky Mountain States is Obama. They like him up here. If Hillary is the nominee, she'll lose Wyoming 64 to 31 so my not voting for her won't make any difference. Not in Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado or Utah.

Now, I won't vote Republican, I just won't place a vote for president if Hillary Clinton is the nominee. I'll support Democrats downticket in my state and others. I'll put all the money allowed into Gary Trauner's race. But still, there have been people reacting to my refusing to vote for Hillary (and to others who've said the same thing), by asking one question:

"Do you realize McCain wants to keep us in Iraq for 100 years?"

I realize he's said that.

We ARE Paying for it!

Sat Jan 12, 2008 at 02:08:33 PM PDT

Kos called us fraudsters. He and all you other assholes who are making fun of those of us who want a recount in NH constantly insult us. You tell us that if we want to pay for it, fine, we can have a recount. WELL WE'RE PAYING FOR IT!

So shut. The fuck. Up.

Most of us aren't fraudsters. MOST of us haven't even mentioned fraud or conspiracy. Dennis Kucinich did not mention fraud or conspiracy! I've donated $100 directly to Dennis Kucinich, but I earmarked it for this recount cost. Now, there is a way to contribute directly to the recount.

Romney and He Who Cannot Be Named

Sun Dec 23, 2007 at 07:48:21 PM PDT

First off, look at this: New Hampshire Paper: Romney 'Must Be Stopped'

If you were building a Republican presidential candidate from a kit, imagine what pieces you might use: an athletic build, ramrod posture, Reaganesque hair, a charismatic speaking style and a crisp dark suit. You'd add a beautiful wife and family, a wildly successful business career and just enough executive government experience. You'd pour in some old GOP bromides - spending cuts and lower taxes - plus some new positions for 2008: anti-immigrant rhetoric and a focus on faith.

Add it all up and you get Mitt Romney, a disquieting figure who sure looks like the next president and most surely must be stopped.

Now, the Concord Monitor is a pretty liberal paper. They think Romney shouldn't be elected because he bends the truth to suit his ambition. They're partly right. But I think it's because of his perceived (by Republicans) similarities to HE WHO CANNOT BE NAMED.

I Just Took A Shower With Brad Pitt

Wed Dec 05, 2007 at 06:13:36 PM PDT

Look. I know this breaks all the rules. Diary too short. Diary making fun of another Diary. Diary about something stupid. On and on. I know all that. I tried to stop myself. I did.

While I'm writing this, I'm trying to stop myself.

I'm telling myself I won't post this.

THIS supports the War On Terror?

Mon Nov 05, 2007 at 12:38:56 AM PDT

This will be a short diary. Sue me.

President General Pervez Musharraf's coup within a coup has just dropped deeper into the abyss of dictatorship. Tonight, on the BBC's news website, we read THIS:

'Merciless' attack

"Police beat lawyers with batons as they came to the High Court in the morning," Akhtar Hussain, a former president of the Sindh High Court Bar Association, told Reuters news agency.

"Many of them have been arrested."

Senior lawyer Akhtar Hussain told the AFP news agency that police had detained "some 50 lawyers" and "whisked them away in waiting vans".

Police also "mercilessly beat" half a dozen lawyers who were chanting anti-government slogans at a court in the city of Rawalpindi, lawyer Mudassir Saeed told AFP.

al-Maliki AGAIN says Blackwater must leave Iraq

Thu Oct 04, 2007 at 02:30:34 PM PDT

Story HERE. Hat tip to Juan Cole, who covered this while the MSM completely ignored it.

BAGHDAD (AFP) — Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said on Wednesday that Blackwater should leave the country because of the mountain of evidence against the under-fire US security firm.

His comments came amid growing anger among Iraqis that "above-the-law" security contractors are continuing to operate in Iraq while Blackwater is being probed over a deadly shooting 17 days ago.

"I believe the abundance of evidence against it makes it unfit to stay in Iraq," Maliki told a televised press conference in Baghdad.

If I hadn't checked Professor Cole's site, I'd have never seen this. Isn't it news? PERTINENT news?

Nukes and News Media: Nothing Adds Up (with pool)

Sun Sep 09, 2007 at 11:00:49 PM PDT

"Doesn't anybody notice this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!"

-- Mugatu, Zoolander

I've been hearing that the News Media sensationalized the recent story about the "lost", "missing" thermonuclear weapons. The press comletely dropped it after a day and left a lot of questions unanswered. I can hardly see where they sensationalized anything. They couldn't wait to move on to something else. They were their usual, lazy, incompetent selves. No doubt they got facts wrong, and they're some pretty important facts!

If you do a Google News search for "Minot missles" or "B-52 Barksdale" or any other two words even loosely associated with the story, you'll mostly find dates of September 5th and September 6th. They dropped it. Cold. I did those searches, confirmed that the story has been all but abandoned, but came up with something that's a bit more disturbing. Was it five nukes? Or six nukes? A day before the anniversary of September 11th, 2001, was it five nukes or six?

Flip with me and I'll show you what disturbs me, but evidently DOES NOT disturb our news media.
